Victory (palm-OUT). Index and middle fingers raised in a V with the palm facing the viewer — "V for Victory," popularised by Winston Churchill and Allied broadcasts in WWII.
Peace (palm-OUT). The same palm-outward V adopted by the 1960s anti-war movement as "the peace sign," now globally understood as peace or goodwill.
Cute photo pose (palm-OUT). A ubiquitous "peace"/*pīsu* pose held up beside the face in casual photos, especially among young people.
"Up yours" (palm-IN, back of hand to viewer). The identical two-finger V with the back of the hand facing out is a contemptuous insult equivalent to the finger — a genuinely different meaning driven purely by palm orientation.
